Testimonial from here:
“I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus at 17 and am now 55. It’s been a long hard ride. Rather than use narcotics for pain management, I have chosen to use medicinal marijuana for several years now, mostly at night to aid in pain control and sleep. I would much rather use an all-natural substance as opposed to chemicals from a lab. The benefits to me are THERE ARE NO SIDE EFFECTS! I have 8 children, 3 with epilepsy (1 uses cannabis for seizure control), and a daughter with lupus, like myself. Marijuana is just common sense; a natural herb that gives pain relief and aids in sleep MUST BE LEGAL for those who need it! Love you MediCann for all you do for the infirm.” - C. C., MediCann Patient (CA)
Partial testimonial from here:
"Every morning it takes me several hours to get motivated because I am so stiff. My fingers are so tight and swollen that I couldn’t even pick up a pen. I have suffered from depression and use Prozac, which I believe is a mood elevator. I have also had severe stomach problems that would sometimes make me unable to eat. When I knew that I was hungry and wanted to eat, my stomach would get so sick inside that I would feel like throwing up. Sometimes I was unable to eat for a week or two, only able to push fluids into my body. I’d have episodes of diarrhea that would sometimes last up to 18 months. I’ve lost 20 to 35 pounds in a month or two.
I’d also have severe panic attacks. I’d be driving down a major highway where all of a sudden I couldn’t breathe. Then I would have serious chest pains and I’d pull onto the side of the road, scared to death, not know if I was having a heart attack or something. The pain would be so bad that I couldn’t even cry if I wanted to!
After hearing about marijuana for all those years, three or four years ago I decided to try it for myself, in the privacy of my own home, keeping it a secret from my children, ages 13, 10½, 8, and 5. I don’t travel with it, I don’t drive while using it, I don’t use it in public, nor do I talk about it with anyone except my family and my doctors.
When I smoke a marijuana cigarette the pain disappears. There is no more pressure in my left eye. The feelings of my eyeball blowing out of the socket disappear. The pain in my joints, muscles, and bones is still there but bearable. I have the energy and motivation to get housework done on a regular basis, which is even harder with four children to take care of. Depression is just another word in the dictionary that I know nothing of.
Since I started smoking marijuana, I have no more diarrhea. I’ve been able to eat two to three meals per day without getting stomach upset. I haven’t had very many anxiety attacks, and I’m once again motivated to get out of bed. I feel as though I’m able to enjoy my life again with my children. I can relax and even concentrate better. Also marijuana gives me an immediate response. I don’t have to wait for it to take effect, as with conventional medications.
Marijuana is 100% naturally grown. I’m afraid of prescription mediations because of seeing my aunt become addicted to prescription painkillers. She almost died, and now it’s like she’s fried in the brain because of them.
Marijuana has helped me, and I will keep on using it for pain reduction whether it is legalized or not."
SCIENCE:
The following study abstract clearly shows cannabis helps most auto immune diseases, including lupus:
Author information Abstract Cannabinoids, the Cannabis constituents, are known to possess anti-inflammatory properties but the mechanisms involved are not understood. Here we show that the main psychoactive cannabinoid, Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and the main nonpsychoactive cannabinoid, cannabidiol (CBD), markedly reduce the Th17 phenotype which is known to be increased in inflammatory autoimmune pathologies such as Multiple Sclerosis. We found that reactivation by MOG35-55 of MOG35-55-specific encephalitogenic T cells (cells that induce Experimental Autoimmune Encephalitis when injected to mice) in the presence of spleen derived antigen presenting cells led to a large increase in IL-17 production and secretion. In addition, we found that the cannabinoids CBD and THC dose-dependently (at 0.1-5 μM) suppressed the production and secretion of this cytokine. Moreover, the mRNA and protein of IL-6, a key factor in Th17 induction, were also decreased. Pretreatment with CBD also resulted in increased levels of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. Interestingly, CBD and THC did not affect the levels of TNFα and IFNγ. The down regulation of IL-17 secretion by these cannabinoids does not seem to involve the CB1, CB2, PPARγ, 5-HT1A or TRPV1 receptors. In conclusion, the results show a unique cannabinoid modulation of the autoimmune cytokine milieu combining suppression of the pathogenic IL-17 and IL-6 cytokines along with boosting the expression of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10.

What do we (humans) know about lupus?
Not much.
A friend of ours diagnosed at age 15 with lupus. It effected her joints and kidneys particularly. At age 16 she cleaned our house. At age 18 she became a Realtor in our real estate office because she was afraid she would not live long enough to make sense out of going through 4 years of college.
She became a real estate broker at age 21.
In her mid twenties she had her first joint replacement - her hip. As the years went by, she had her knee replaced, then the other hip, and most recently, the first hip had to replaced again (THANKS TO STEROIDS).
In her late 20s her kidneys failed completely. At the same time - the lupus left her - full remission. However, she was put on the water type of dialysis: Peritoneal dialysis for a few years.
Finally (at age 29) she got a replacement kidney transplant.
She's done well with the kidney for 18 years. She married a widower with very small children and raised them.
Now, she did all this without ganja.
We don't want you to think that we are completely anti pharmaceutical medicine and medical doctors.
YES - Drug Induced Lupus (DILE) - like SLE Lupus - it aims at one or a few vital organs and can be deadly - but unlike SLE - it seems to resolve after the drugs are stopped. Here's a study about it:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001471/
NOTE: Warfarin is a common blood thinner prescribed to lupus patients (among many other drugs). Warfarin is basically rat poison. Cannabis has a similar effect to warfarin because it prevents blood clots.
Also, cannabis is effective at preventing or even curing MRSA (antibiotic resistant staff infection).
After decades of studies - lupus is poorly understood.
There are many types of lupus.
In our opinion - there are so many recently "discovered" auto immune diseases - it leads a person to wonder if they all could be helped or cured by proper regulation of our auto immune system.
Cannabis is a regulator of homeostasis (meaning the balanced or correct state of being).
Cannabis is also not well understood.
At the very basic level - it is known that cannabis can regulate (turn up or down) the immune system.
How does it do that?
The details are still not understood. However, here is a little bit on pot lowering the immune response:
Cannabis contains (probably) hundreds of cannabinoids.
It just so happens that these cannabinoids are very similar to endocannabinoids -- a substance our bodies naturally manufacture.
Our bodies make endocannabinoids to literally feed our endocannabinoid system.
Unfortunately (and probably because of pollution, stress, and chemicals everywhere) we (today) don't make enough endocannabinoids to adequately feed our endocannabinoid system so that it can function at or near
its' optimum level.
The above explains why cannabis can appear to be snake oil - curing or helping almost everything.
Ganja may seem like snake oil because when cannabis gets the endocannabinoid system working (by feeding it) the endocannabinoid system turns up or down the immune system as needed - and because cannabis is an excellent anti inflammatory. And most disease has inflammation as its' root.
This is also why cannabis is a weight regulator, blood pressure regulator - it just goes on and on.
We're asking you to stop seeing cannabis as a drug. Please see pot as a health supplement.
New born babies can get a red rash - neonatal lupus - and worse - but symptoms tend to resolve in a few months.
CLE Lupus: can be part of a "sickness soup" - so a patient can have lupus with rheumatoid arthritis and other auto immune diseases (most of which will also be helped with medical marijuana use).
SLE lupus seems to aim at one or two or many vital organs and is life threatening.
Most cases of lupus are SLE or Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.
African heritage or Asian heritage can increase your chances of getting lupus.
Lupus most often presents between age 10 and age 50.
It is very difficult for doctors to diagnose.
Are you feeling weak, dizzy, about to faint, cold, sad, depressed, insomnia, and you don't feel like eating? Are you bruising easily? Chest pains?
Leukopenia and Neutropenia can come with lupus - lowering white blood cell counts - leaving you open to infections.
The heart can become inflamed. The heart beat can be screwed up - in any of many ways. Heart valves can become inflamed. Feet and legs may swell.
The heart can just stop. Venus thrombosis (swelling of the lining of he veins) and various types of anemia (low hemoglobin) can be experienced with lupus.
There are 11 criteria used to help diagnose lupus because there is no one lab test to identify it.
If you have 4 of these, you may have lupus:
Blood Tests (w/ normal values) (normal values may vary from lab to lab)
CONCLUSION:
Medical marijuana is easy to access in any State that has medical marijuana law. In most cases (and it is the case in California) - a medical doctor must give a medical marijuana recommendation to the potential medical marijuana patient.
In California - virtually every city has many MMJ weed delivery services that are legal - and will bring medical marijuana to your door. We have a list of some of these here.
In our opinion - the best medical marijuana product available to fight something like lupus is Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) or cannabis oil. To learn more about Rick Simpson Oil - please review the A pages descriptions in the site map.

FYI:
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE CANNABIS NAMES?
HEMP OIL:
Rick Simpson calls essential oil extracted from marijuana for medical use “Hemp oil.” It isn’t clear to us why Rick does this. Possibly because saying “hemp” is less threatening to new-to-RSO patients? That probably is the case.
Hemp is not marijuana. Hemp is cannabis. Confusing? Yes!
It is possible for cannabis cross breeders to lower or raise THC and CBD quantities in the plant – and not by a little bit. For example, either can be lowered to under 1%. Either can be raised to as much as 40% (in the whole plane – before essential oil is extracted).
When cannabis contains less than 1% THC it is considered to be hemp and not marijuana. The word hemp in the cannabis industry refers to “Industrial Hemp” – the crop grown for fiber, seed oil, and other components – including CBD oil. Hemp foods are in your health food store right now – and they are very good for you – but they won’t (alone) give you a chance to beat a serious health challenge – especially cancer.
Rick Simpson did not and is not talking and writing about essential oil made from hemp – even though he uses the word hemp. Rick is talking about marijuana when he says “hemp.” Clearly, Rick believes THC to be the primary cancer killer and he has produced mountains of anecdotal testimonials from patients testifying to this fact.
Legally, marijuana becomes industrial hemp when THC levels fall below 1% in the plant.
CANNABIS OIL
Cannabis oil is any oil made from cannabis – and so it needs a further qualifier. For example: “CBD cannabis oil” indicates that the cannabis oil was produced from industrial hemp (less than 1% THC). CBD oil is also made from a marijuana plant strain that is high in CBD (in which case it may have a bit more than 1% THC in it or even a roughly equal amount of CBD oil in it).
“THC cannabis oil” obviously would be cannabis oil that has a high THC content (and probably low levels of CBD).
Technically: Hemp oil you can buy at the health food store (made from industrial hemp seeds) could be also be called cannabis oil because of what we said above: “both industrial hemp and marijuana are the same plant” – with THC levels being the defining factor.
Hemp is now legal to grow in all 50 states. The reason it was made illegal to grow in 1937 along with marijuana is that the Federal Government was worried people would grow marijuana hidden in the hemp crop. However, hemp was so integrated into American industry it was made legal for the duration of World War Two because it was felt it would be impossible to wage war successfully without it.
